How long it takes

  • For beginners with our Zero to Hero program: ~6 weeks
  • From Rescue Diver level: ~2 weeks

What makes our Divemaster Internship different

This is not a “work-for-training” setup and and not using candidates as free labor. Our focus is on proper training and real skill development with true mentorship. You will train in a relaxed but structured way, with 5 training days per week and time to rest or explore Tenerife in between. We specialize in Divemaster training, and you will learn directly from experienced instructors and an in-house Instructor Trainer — giving you a strong foundation if you decide to continue toward becoming an Instructor.

What you will learn during the internship

The complete roadmap to becoming a Divemaster:

1. Learn to dive

  • Open Water Diver Course

2. Build skills in different environements underwater

  • Navigation Specialty
  • Night diving Specialty
  • Deep diving Specialty

3. Learn how to stay safe and help others

  • First aid, CPR, and Oxygen provider training (React Right)
  • Diver Stress & Rescue training

4. Plan and organize dives for other divers

  • Dive Guide training
    Preparation, group management and underwater guiding

5. Deepen your knowledge about diving theory

  • Science of Diving
    Learn more about physyology, diving equipment and marine environments

6. Spend lots of time in the water

  • Minimum of 60 logged dives
  • Assisting instructors during real training courses
  • Supporting daily dive center operations
  • Leading guided dives (once qualified)

 

Once you have completed the training program, you can sign up as an SSI Divemaster and start working in the diving industry anywhere in the world.

Entry requirements

No previous diving experience is required.
To join the internship you must:

  • be at least 18 years old
  • be able to swim 400 metres under 20 minutes
  • be medically fit for diving
  • be ready for an active, hands-on training experience

Coming from another agency?

We welcome divers from all scuba training agencies. If you are already certified, you can join our SSI Divemaster Internship regardless of which agency you trained with — just let us know about your highest certification level.
