As a Divemaster, you can already play a vital role in the dive community—leading dives, assisting with courses, and ensuring dive operations run smoothly. But the Assistant Instructor level lets you start actively teaching under supervision and prepares you for more responsibility and freedom. - It’s the difference between assisting and instructing.

Teach, Inspire, Lead

As an SSI Assistant Instructor, you'll be able to:

• Independently teach certain SSI programs like Scuba Skills Update and Try Scuba and Perfect Buoyancy
• Teach the confined water dives Open Water Diver Courses (except for the emergency ascents)
• Start giving dive briefings with an instructor’s perspective
• Build real teaching experience before taking the Instructor Training Course (ITC)

Assistant Instructor Course - How long does it take

The Course consists of one full week of theoretical and practical training. By the end of the course, you’ll be equipped with knowledge and skills in: Delivering classroom presentations on a variety of scuba topics Conducting skill briefings Demonstrating scuba skills at a professional level Teaching and evaluating skills during in-water sessions Identifying and correcting student mistakes Managing and supervising student groups underwater Motivating students and providing effective, constructive feedback

From Divemaster to Assitant Instructor

If you start your Divemaster Training with us and decide to continue on the SSI Professional Scuba Pathway, you can extend your training by just one more week to earn your Assistant Instructor certification. To qualify, you'll need at least 75 logged dives and an Enriched Air Nitrox certification.
